Drawing on themes of the supernatural and death associated with Halloween, Steiger teams in 112 cities and 26 countries hit the streets to share the message of Jesus with young people who would not walk into a church. God worked powerfully and stories poured in!

Steiger Missionary Philip Shorey brought his original accompaniment for the classic silent film, Nosferatu (1922) to Minneapolis, USA for the Halloween season. He directed the Curse of the Vampire Orchestra, a 45-piece symphony featuring a host of talented musicians, to deliver a wild production at the highest level of entertainment. They presented the film to an audience that would never step foot into a church. Through five performances, 1,000 people heard the clear message of the Gospel, and 150 responded in different ways - shining the light on their phone as a symbol of wanting to know Jesus, coming up for prayer after the show, texting in questions, and personally inviting Jesus into their lives. A keyboard player from the orchestra asked the group to pray for one of her students, who was coming to the show. The student made a decision to receive Jesus into his life right there in the auditorium after the performance!

Beirut, Lebanon’s Steiger team donned Grim Reaper costumes and led a slow procession through the city’s biggest party spots, handing out invitations to a concert. When they reached their destination, they performed a live rap show that featured songs about death, darkness, and destruction. They followed it up with a strong gospel message pointing to the hope we have in Jesus. Then the “Grim Reapers'' swarmed out to engage in many powerful one-on-one conversations. Daniel, a member of our Steiger Beruit City team, talked with Mahmud, a young Muslim man. He admitted he was nervous about death, not knowing whether he would make it into heaven.
For the first time ever, he heard about Jesus and that he could have a relationship with God!

Dozens of other Steiger teams led creative outreaches on this impactful day, reaching hundreds of young people - “Squid Game” evangelism in Curitiba, Brazil, a “Baum Party” full of art, music, and activities in Bogotá, Colombia, the “Confession Room” in Kyiv, Ukraine, and the “Funeral of Hopelessness” procession in Helsinki, Finland, just to name a few!

Mobilizing the Next Generation and Responding to Tragedy in Houston

Strong teaching at the Steiger Intensive Training challenged people to reach the Global Youth CultureStrong teaching at the Steiger Intensive Training challenged people to reach the Global Youth Culture

“This past weekend left me with a loss for words. I spent the last 4 days with Steiger International in Houston, seeking the Lord, building amazing relationships and sharing the Gospel. God used this weekend to transform my relationship with Him and helped me discover freedom in the way I worship!!”
Olivia (from Lakeville, Minnesota)

Last month, the Steiger Intensive Training in Houston brought together Jesus followers (like Olivia) from all over the U.S., who are passionate about reaching young people who would not walk into a church.

It was a powerful time of intense prayer and worship, and strong teaching on Steiger’s values, principles, and models for reaching the Global Youth Culture - all reinforced through practical outreach in Houston.

The Intensive Training is designed to mobilize the next generation of Christian leaders and influencers to impact the secularized culture of our cities. Many of those who attended are now applying to participate in the 2022 Steiger Missions School in Germany, believing that God has called them to dedicate their lives to reaching global youth!

The love of Jesus proclaimed amidst the tragedy at the Astroworld FestivalThe love of Jesus proclaimed amidst the tragedy at the Astroworld Festival

During the time in Houston, the Astroworld Festival tragedy took place. Ten people died and many more were injured from being trampled by the out of control crowd.

When we heard this news, we immediately began seeking God and His heart that was breaking for the city in the midst of this tragedy, knowing that we couldn’t sit on the sidelines.

Together we took to the streets and, using a mobile art installation, invited people to express in writing how they felt about what had happened. We told them about the hope of Jesus, praying for them and their city during such a difficult time.

We saw God moving and the message of the Gospel bringing hope, healing, and restoration in the midst of people’s pain.

Bobbi met a young woman at an evangelistic art installation and struck up a conversation with her. “I found out that she had been abused like I was,” she shares. “This 19 year old had tried to commit suicide seven times and believed that ‘a god’ had intervened the last two times. We prayed together and she asked Jesus into her life! She asked for my contact, and we have stayed in touch."
