“Love is… not arriving.” That’s what one young Muslim woman shared when she came into contact with our Steiger MVMT Minneapolis team. It was Valentine’s weekend and the group had hit the streets to engage people in conversation about what real love looks like.
“She explained that people love the idea of each other from afar, but once they arrive into a relationship, the love fades,” team member Erin shared. “This led into a conversation about love and religion and humanity.” The conversation opened the door for Erin to share the Gospel - that the love of Jesus never fades! The woman even allowed Erin to pray with her before she went on her way.
At the Valentine’s action in Bratislava, Slovakia, our Steiger MVMT group was just wrapping up their activities when they got into a conversation with a group of teenagers. “I could see on their faces that they were angry at the god they were presented with,” a team member shared.
“I immediately felt God’s heart pour into mine. We spent the next 20 minutes just asking them to talk more about what they think and show them the heart of Christ through what he did for them on the cross. I didn’t try to win them over by persuasion or arguing—I simply listened to their heart and responded with God’s. At the end of the conversation one of them said, ‘Thank you so much for listening, no Christian ever did that for us!’ They felt that they could raise any objections and not be ‘punished’ for it, so they were open to getting to know more about the real Jesus in the Bible.” The team invited them to continue the conversation at a future Bible Study for the Non-Religious, and all of them planned to go!
These are just two of the incredible stories of God working through the boldness of our Steiger teams around the world on Valentine’s Weekend! That week, we held 24 different outreaches in 13 countries and had 657 Gospel conversations with secular young people - 119 of them in Madrid, Spain alone! Please pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to move in these lives and new friendships, and that these young people would be transformed by the overwhelming and unconditional love of Jesus.
