Since our Pioneering Team arrived in London last fall, they’d been praying for the secular youth of the city and specifically for “Hope for London,” a catalytic five-day event full of powerful prayer, worship, training, and street evangelism at the end of February.
Team leader Mike shared, “The first evening of the event, the presence of God was so heavy in the room that we decided to stay. The prayer and worship continued late into the night!”
The Holy Spirit was so present, people stayed until 11pm.
That overflow of the Spirit set the tone for the rest of the week and rooted the team’s evangelistic actions. Believers from throughout London joined them, and witnessed first hand how young people who would never set foot in a church responded to the Gospel!
“We did the ‘Take and Leave’ project in a very popular spot called Leicester Square,” Mike shared. “Before we even finished setting up, ‘Jack’ (not his real name) came over and was open to doing it. He shared that the thing he wanted to leave was addiction and the new word that he took, ‘patience,’ really spoke to his situation.
“We explained that when he reaches the end of himself, there is a God who is alive and gives us access to Himself. He desires to set us free from addiction, shame, and the pain that we feel.”
Mike shared the Gospel with Jack and he got so excited! The team asked if they could pray over him and he responded, “Yeah, that’d be great! No one’s ever prayed for me before.” Afterwards, he exchanged contact information with the team so he could continue learning more about Jesus!
More than 100 people took part in the Hope for London training, and nearly half of them joined for outreaches. Throughout the week, 444 people heard the Gospel. Our teams prayed with 307 people and exchanged contact information with 37 of them. Though the event is over, the work God is doing through Steiger in London is just beginning!
