The newly forming Steiger City Team in Colonia Tovar, Venezuela has been walking the streets of their city, covering it in prayer, and talking with whoever the Holy Spirit leads them to.

 “Just as a potter molds a clay pot and squeezes it into the ideal shape for which it was designed, so God is doing something wonderful in your life.” Andry used these words to encourage Ariadna, the young woman he’d just met. Ariadna had accepted their offer of hand sanitizer, and God used the opportunity to speak encouragement into her life about how He uses difficulties to shape us.

The entire Latin American region of Steiger has been squeezed on every side through difficulties this year, but they have been so faithful. Take the team forming in Venezuela - a country that is suffering food shortages, extreme violence, and political collapse. The team members came together as a result of our Steiger Worldwide Online Compact Schools, began a virtual prayer gathering, and is now made up of 15 completely sold out team members.

And we’re talking, completely sold out.

Before being considered an official team member with one of the Latin American City Teams, young people go through three months of training, including weekly small groups, Bible study, homework, and daily, early morning prayer times together. Alejandro Reyes, our Latin America Regional Leader, isn’t trying to take over their lives - He wants God to do that. He knows that difficulties will come. Always. It is only when we are completely sold out for Christ that we can boldly follow Him wherever He leads and become who He’s designed us to be.

The evening after Andry spoke with Ariadna, he realized just how timely the encouragement was for her. Team leader, Darwin shared, “Andry wrote to her and she told him that she was speechless. Her mother had spoken those same words to her earlier that morning. How incredible to realize that God cares for her in this shaping process she’s going through! She moved to Colonia only 3 months ago and it has been very hard for her.”

Now Andry and the team are continuing in a relationship with Ariadna, showing her the love of her Father - who not only sent a stranger on the street to encourage her in her weakness but also sent His Son to give His life for her.

 

Steiger Latin America has jumped back into passionately engaging in outreaches

 

 

 

Over the past year, our Latin American teams have grown from 124 team members across the region to 296.

In Argentina alone, over 250 people participated in Steiger’s online Revolutionary! Bible Study. Strengthened by the time of study and prayer, our ten City Teams across the region have already jumped back into weekly outreaches in their city centers. All this during one of the most turbulent years in recent history. God is molding. And He is creating something beyond our wildest expectations.

Starting Our Year With a Month of Relentless Prayer

Our heart is to begin this year desperately seeking God.

In the wake of 2020, we are even more keenly aware that we are powerless to accomplish anything of worth without God at the center of it.

In response to our prayers for guidance and direction last September, God gave us the vision for a City Team Expansion. But the only way any of our ongoing efforts will be effective is if they are covered in relentless prayer.

So this month, we’re immersing ourselves in it again. As a mission, we’re committing to filling every hour of every day in January with prayer. As in 2020, we’ll have a 24/7 Prayer Room open on Zoom, and there will be a calendar where you can sign up to join us for an hour or more. We’ll provide daily prayer requests from our regions around the world along with Scripture on which to meditate. If God is calling you to fast something or spend time in repentance this month, we encourage you to do it. We are holding nothing back, and we are expecting God to speak!

 

We are beginning 2021 with desperate, relentless prayer

 

 

 

The vision He has given us is not possible in our own strength - but with God nothing is impossible!! So we will faithfully and relentlessly come before our Father, asking Him to give us more radical faith and boldness to see a fresh Jesus movement around the world.
