International Newsletter August 2012
Dear friends,
Grabian, Albania was a city where enemies of the state were sent during the days of communism. A city of exile - now a forgotten place with high unemployment, violence, child abuse and alcoholism. We saw this first hand.

A young girl who looked to be 6 or 7 years old danced in high heels in front of some drunken men in a bar next to where we were preparing for our concert. After the little girl finished a provocative dance a man kissed her many times while he touched her inappropriately and gave her beer. It was horrifying.
We all felt such a heavy sexual and aggressive atmosphere. At one point I was almost overwhelmed by it. Satan was not pleased that we were there and was trying to discourage us.
Ge Vang, an actor in the band, was actually scratched on the forehead by one of the aggressive kids and Kenny was punched hard in the back by a guy who looked to be 20 years old and acted like he was just being friendly. Fights broke out constantly between the kids.
When we started the NLM concert, the crowd of around 500-600 people were totally engaged. Many others watched from rooftops and windows surrounding the square. During the scene in our concert where we show a girl who is abused by a guy, the crowd actually cheered with approval. It was very disturbing.
However when it came to the part of the concert where we show how Jesus loved this girl and died for her, everything changed. We all felt the Holy Spirit invade the square. One older man said he felt this “weight” on his body that he never felt before - his way of describing the Holy Spirit. “Please tell me about God” he said.
Several hundred came to the fire and many who came wanted to pray out loud and ask Jesus into their lives! I had them form a big circle in the middle of the square and prayed for them while local believers gave them information about a local church.
We did a total of 5 concerts during our time in Albania. At our last concert in the city of Burrel, well over 1000 people filled the square. A local Pastor said the only gathering he saw close to that size in his city before this was a leftwing political party demonstration. Hundreds responded to the preaching and it was covered by local TV and will be broadcast nationally.
After every concert, we also gave away hundreds of cards that said in Albanian: “Are you interested in knowing more about the message of No Longer Music?” This included the URL to our Albanian NLM “Fan Club” Website (a follow up and discipleship tool designed to compliment NLM’s front-line evangelistic efforts). The website includes a video, further explanation as to the meaning of the NLM show (i.e. the Gospel) and a form to submit contact information for local follow up.
Next year, we plan to further enhance this web-site into a dynamic, interactive discipleship tool. I am excited because I believe that this will be a really valuable tool that will enhance the long-term effectiveness of No Longer Music, especially in sensitive Middle Eastern countries.
Please pray for those who were touched by the message of the cross in Albania, and also those in Turkey and Kosovo. Pray also for the NLM team as we are now in the middle of an intense tour of Poland. You can follow all the latest tour news and prayer requests online at: www.steiger.org/nlmtour.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
