For the past three years, Steiger team member Karen has been discipling Marie in Dresden, Germany. It’s been a long road, but Marie decided to follow Jesus and has been attending church with some of the team members for about a year. The team has been inviting her to join them on outreaches to share the Gospel, but Marie has always declined. Steiger missionary Nerina shared, “She thought that you have to be very brave to talk to strangers on the streets. Many times she almost came, but then she would have doubts and stay home.”
Then came Halloween. Marie shared that she thought it’d be easier to talk to strangers on Halloween because people are already in a party mood. So when the team prepared to take to the streets to do video interviews with people, asking them spiritual questions, Marie said, “Ok, I will go with you and run the camera. But I won’t talk.”
“That night, there were so many people that came up to our team,” Nerina said. “We ended up not even doing official interviews for long because there were so many people who wanted to talk.” Marie couldn’t help but join in a conversation - there were too many people to avoid it! She and Karen spoke with two girls, and by the end of the conversation, they both gave their lives to Christ!
On the same night on the other side of the world, our Steiger Bogotá team in Colombia felt like everything was going against them. “There was so much opposition,” Steiger missionary Nico shared. “The police wouldn't let us set up our event, it rained all afternoon, and the key for where we were storing our things broke.”
The Steiger Bogotá Team starts their Halloween show with fire!
The team had prepared a huge street party with a drumming procession, a dance performance, and projects set up around the square to invite people into spiritual conversations. When it became clear there was significant opposition, the team prayed desperately. Soon enough, the police commander gave special permission for the team to set up and the rain stopped 30 minutes before the event. “God is greater than any obstacle!” Steiger missionary Felo said, “Hundreds of people heard about Jesus, many experienced healing, and there were several powerful deliverances. Once again, our Jesus revealed His greatness!”
The presence of the Holy Spirit was present also in Sochi, Russia, where our Steiger teams took to the streets. The team set up creative evangelism projects around the city square and performed a concert for people walking by. Team member Philip shared a powerful encounter he witnessed at one of the tables they’d set up. “A girl came to one of the creative projects and the guy who was standing there asked her if she suffered from chronic depression and constant panic attacks? ‘Yes!’ She said and started crying. Then they prayed together and God touched her heart. We believe that she received healing.”

In Simferopol, Crimea, there was a girl who recently gave her life to Christ after meeting our team there who joined them for creative outreach. The streets were packed with young people in costume celebrating Halloween. The whole night, this new believer boldly shared about the love of Jesus and how He had already changed her life. A similar boldness ran through the entire team. “Our team did not stand aside,” team member Maria shared. “We preached the Gospel right in the epicenter of city life. Many were surprised that in the midst of darkness we had such an island of light and love.”
Our Zwolle MVMT team in the Netherlands set up a huge installation in the city square.
Over Halloween week, Steiger Teams held outreach events in 24 cities across 5 different regions, many of which were on Halloween night itself. As a result of our efforts, 4,637 people heard the Gospel in a clear and relevant way.
Thank you for lifting our teams up in prayer as we brought light into the darkness. Please continue praying for those who encountered the hope of the Gospel that night.
