On Tuesday afternoon we rolled into the city of Khmelnitsky, about 4 hrs southwest of Kiev. It was a smaller city, which was the place of our final concert in 2015.
We setup in the same place as the previous year, a central square next to a theater, where hundreds of people milled around. It was exciting to work with such an amazing church, who had obviously invested so much into the event.
In this region, the Ukrainian language begins to take precedence over Russian, and so it would also be the final concert that we’d use Russian translation.
Over 2000 people showed up to the concert, which grew as the night went on. After the resurrection scene in the show, David began his preaching by simply proclaiming, “God loves Ukraine!”. Applause broke out and people listened intently.
We had a big response and announced the plans for the follow-up meeting. The next night we held a 6pm/Follow Up event with Nuteki at the supporting church. The place was filled with young people, and both Misha and Ben were able to preach about what it means to follow Jesus and give your life to Him.
People who hadn’t done so the previous night were able to give their lives to Jesus there at the end of the meeting. It was a very important and amazing time in this small city, and we can’t wait to come back next year!
