June 2008

Beirut, Lebanon

Dear Friends,

picBecause a measure of calm has returned to Beirut, it is our plan to be there with NO LONGER MUSIC from July 23-29th.  We will have a festival running for 5 days in a well known concert venue called "Forum de Beirut" in a big warehouse used for exhibitions and concerts. Different popular Lebanese local bands will open for us each day to draw a crowd. As more people hear about it and go and tell others it is our belief that by the 3rd concert it should be packed.

Fighting erupted last week in the city - the worst internal unrest since the 1975-90 civil war - after the Government said it was taking action against Hezbollah's communications network and sacked the head of security at Beirut airport, who is close to the group.  But army soldiers flooded into West Beirut to claim positions that had been seized a day earlier by Hezbollah, which faded back to its strongholds south and west of central Beirut and a political compromise was reached.
OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION AND WE NEED GOD TO LEAD US. I just want to stay behind Jesus.  I have a strong conviction that Jesus has opened this door and if

He keeps it open we should go it. So pray that if this is NOT right that the door closepics.  Please pray that powerful angels surround my family and our team as we lift up the cross in that desperate city. Pray that God draws key people that He has prepared to the evangelistic concerts and that there will be a flood of people who will find Jesus.
ALSO pray for our promoter in Lebanon that he will have God's anointing and protection as he prepares for this.

Sandro Baggio (the leader of Steiger Brazil), my son Aaron and I were just in Uberlandia, Brazil for the Tribal Generation Global Summit.  There where 3,000 people there from all over South America and other parts of the world.  I spoke four times and did a couple of TV interviews.  The responses in the meetings were overwhelming. People were crying out to God. Sometimes the floor was wet with tears. Aaron & Sandro met with different leaders from throughout South America to discuss Steiger's Evangelistic Artists Association, and were able to talk about it on the biggest Christian TV station in the area.

picI am now in the States waiting for Jodi who will arrive later this week from New Zealand. We will then make preparations for the upcoming evangelistic tour.  If you want more details about the tour, visit http://timetoact.steiger.org.

Our most immediate need for travel costs has been met!!! THANK YOU to those who contributed financially and in prayer. We now only need about $37,000 US dollars more to meet the remaining costs for this evangelistic tour!!!

Please consider if you should help lift up Jesus in this critical time. I believe opportunities we have today will not be there tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support!  Jodi and I can't tell you enough how much we appreciate it.
For the lost,

David & Jodi Pierce

Prayer

Praise Report

  • Praise God that he has provided the money for the travel costs for our team members

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for preparations for our upcoming evangelistic tours in Lebanon, Turkey, Croatia, Finland, Poland, Iceland and USA.  We have financial sponsorship for the Turkey leg of the tour but we still need sponsors for rest of the concerts (US$37,000)

  • Pray for the Evangelistic Artists Association—that it will be a strategic vehicle to encourage and support more Christian artists to use their gifts and talents in spreading the gospel.
